Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has revealed that new recruit Jadon Sancho did not take any persuading to make the move to Old Trafford, insisting that he wanted to make the move last summer.
After tracking the England international for a substantial period of time, United, who kick-off their 2021/22 Premier League campaign at home to Leeds United in a fortnight’s time, finally got a deal over the line for the winger earlier this month, landing him in a £73million deal.
Arriving at Old Trafford for such a significant transfer fee, Sancho is going to be expected to produce the goods on a consistent basis, as he looks to take the next step in his development.
However, one thing that can be guaranteed about Sancho’s switch to the Reds is that he will be determined to make his mark, with Henderson revealing that his England team-mate has been wanting to the move for a long period of time, meaning he will now looking to justify exactly why United waited so long to finally lay their hands on him.

“Jadon’s a great guy, I’ve got a lot of time for Jadon,” Henderson told United’s club website. “It was more just speaking to him to try and get him to come to the football club.
“He didn’t take any persuading because he already had it in his head last summer obviously. I’m happy that it’s over the line for him and I hope he can bring his talent onto the pitch here and show everyone what he can do.
“He has got everything and he’s still a baby really. It’s just so exciting to see. I can’t imagine where he’ll be in the coming years.
“You could put him in the category of the best [in the world] if he fulfils his potential.”
Sancho is poised to become an immediate mainstay in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season, with the 21-year-old set, in the eyes of many, to cement himself as one of the Premier League’s best players from the get-go.
Sancho consistently produced the goods in the Bundesliga in recent seasons, meaning the same will be expected of him once again now that he is back in his homeland.
