Whether it’s a birthday, an anniversary or you just want an excuse to splash out, a Spinningfields’ restaurant has been praised by locals as the perfect place to celebrate any special occasions.
Stylish bar and restaurant Australasia has been offering diners a taste of Down Under since it opened in 2011.
Although it can’t replicate the glorious Australian weather, the food has been described as ‘incredible’.
It’s also a popular celebrity haunt with stars such as Michelle Keegan and Catherine Tyldesley having previously dined there.
And the locals are loving it too.
Rated five stars by someone who visited to celebrate their anniversary, some diners have stated the prices are on the higher end but totally worth it for the food and the perfect spot to mark those special days.
Ella’s recommendation for Australasia on 2Chill
Leaving her recommendation on 2Chill, Ella Glover said: “I went to Australasia on an anniversary date. The atmosphere was very serene and staff were friendly, enthusiastic and helpful.
“While it is quite expensive, the food at Australasia is gorgeous. The Swordfish Steak was incredible, as were the desserts. Cocktails were lovely – we even forked out for extra. It’s great for a special occasion and I’d definitely return.”
Just as you’d find on menus across Aus, dishes take their inspiration from the surrounding islands with Indonesian and Southeast Asian flavours.

There are two ways of eating at Australasia – traditionally with a starter and main, or you can choose a selection of its small plates designed for sharing. These will be served in waves and placed in the centre of the tables for you all to dig in.
Seafood features heavily on its menu with Yellowfin tuna, Salmon, prawns, scallops and squid. Diners can also feast on sashimi, nigori and California rolls.
More than just a restaurant, Australasia is also a go-to for drinks with its bar offering cocktails to the backdrop of its resident DJs every night.
The bar and restaurant are open Monday to Saturday from 12pm-11pm and until 10pm on Sundays, with the exception of Friday and Saturday nights when the bar remains open until midnight.
