Former Liverpool and England midfielder Danny Murphy has hailed Jadon Sancho’s end product as being a special quality within his armoury following his big-money move to Manchester United.
Sancho, who is to start training with his United team-mates this week ahead of Saturday’s Premier League opener against Leeds United, finally sealed his long-awaited move to Old Trafford last month, joining the club in a £72.9m deal.
United had been long-term admirers of the England international and had been desperate to bolster their right wing options with his signature.
Renowned for his pace and trickery, Sancho is expected to help United take another step back towards the top step of English football this season and help them challenge for the Premier League title.

But it is not just his pace and ability with the ball that has impressed Murphy: it’s also his end product, both in terms of goals and assists.
“His arrival gives Ole Gunnar Solskjaer great options at Manchester United,” Murphy told the Mail. “He loves playing on the right, which gives United the chance to play Mason Greenwood down the middle, which he prefers.
“What Sancho has, which is really special for a wide player, is fantastic end product in terms of goals and assists. It’s down to his awareness and decision making, he knows when to pass, when to cross, when to be more selfish and go for goal.
“The way he glides over the pitch makes him a nightmare to mark because he can drop his shoulder and go inside or outside, defenders don’t know how to stop him.”
As well as backing his end product to make him stand out at Old Trafford, Murphy also believes that the England international will not take too long to get up to speed.
“I suspect Sancho will hit the ground running once he’s had a few training sessions,” added Murphy. He’ll be full of confidence and what Solskjaer will like is that he’s a real team player; if he can set up chances for [Edinson] Cavani, [Mason] Greenwood, [Mason] Martial and [Marcus] Rashford, he will.
“All great teams need that.”
To highlight Sancho’s ability in the final third, the winger, who made three appearances for England at Euro 2020, scored 16 goals and racked up 20 assists in 38 appearances in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund last season.
