Manchester United have made contact with the agent of Saul Niguez over a possible transfer, according to reports.
It’s been an excellent summer of business so far for United with the arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund all sewn up and the arrival of Raphael Varane imminent.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t satisfied there, however, and is still hoping to make some more additions to his squad.
As well as right-back Kieran Trippier, United are also looking to sign another centre-midfielder this summer and the need for one could get even more pressing with Paul Pogba’s future in doubt.
United’s top target has been Declan Rice but with West Ham United demanding a fee in the region of £100million, they have been priced out of that move for now and have been linked with alternatives instead.

One such player is Atletico Madrid star Saul, who has been a mainstay in Diego Simeone’s side for a number of years, despite playing a less prominent role last season.
Speculation suggests he could leave the Spanish capital this summer as the champions look to raise funds to solve some financial problems.
That could open the door for United to sign Saul for a relatively low price between £34m-£38m, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“Manchester United are among the clubs that have been in contact with Saul Niguez’s agent,” Romano told United Stand.
“They have an interest in the player and consider him ‘one of the biggest opportunities on the market’.
“€40-45m (£34m-£38m) will get a deal done, no bid yet.”
Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard has reportedly told United that he wants to stay and fight for his place.
The Star say Lingard doesn’t want to be loaned out again this season and has instead informed bosses at United that he wants to play a key part in the coming campaign.
It’s claimed he has told Solskjaer he wants to stay, despite interest from West Ham, and is aware his contract expires next summer so he could leave for free.
