Stuck for something to do with the kids during the summer holidays? Why not park them in front of the telly? We’re joking… kind of.
Good news for parents either way, as Netgem TV – a popular set-top box powered by Freeview Play that is sold by a number of gigabit broadband suppliers across the UK – has just announced its 200 free-to-watch channels have been joined by a new children’s TV hub called “School’s Out Avenue”.
Aimed at stealing away some market-share from Sky and Virgin Media, Netgem TV is one of the UK’s cheapest options for fibre and TV bundles, starting from just £9.99 a month. Alongside terrestrial channels from Freeview Play, like BBC and ITV, it has added 20 new channels to its lineup, including BT Sport, SportsTribal, Comedy Central, MTV, Motorvision TV, ESTV, Cooking Panda and Toon Goggles TV. Old favourites include National Geographic, Wild, and History Channel.
With the new dedicated hub for children, younger viewers will be able to watch their favourite shows and characters including Peppa Pig, Milkshake Monkey and Thomas and Friends in one place.
It’s been put together in collaboration with Channel 5’s Milkshake! which hosts kids programs on the channel every morning, so should know a thing or two about keeping them entertained.

Netgem TV recently hit the 200-channel milestone. Although admittedly it’s a long way off Sky’s basic package, which boasts 300 channels – with the option to pay for extras like sport and movie channels, it’s still more than double BT TV’s offering of 80.
Shan Eisenberg from Netgem said the company is “thrilled” about the new launch, while its partner, global entertainment corp Viacom CBS.
Eisenberg told Express.co.uk: “We are delighted to team up with Netgem TV and be part of their expansion bringing Milkshake! to families using Netgem TV across the UK. With ‘School’s Out Avenue’, kids will have access to their favourite Milkshake! shows, keeping them entertained throughout the summer and beyond.”
You’ll be able to access the new kids hub through your TV if you have a Netgem subscription.
Although hardly a household name, Netgem TV has a 20-year history providing internet services and home products. Its monthly TV subscription service has 15 HD channels as well as apps and streaming services including Prime Video, YouTube and Britbox. On-demand TV services BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 and UKTV are also included. It all comes with an Amazon Alexa integration and a dedicated app.
