Former Manchester United academy coach Clayton Blackmore thinks Shola Shoretire is the club’s most exciting youngster.
Shoretire, 17, is the latest graduate from United’s academy and he made his first-team debut back in February against Newcastle, before playing against Real Sociedad in the Europa League four days later – he created history against the Spanish side, too.
That’s because when Shoetire came on as the final substitute against Sociedad at Old Trafford, he became the youngest player to appear for the club in European competition as he was aged just 17 years and 23 days old — which is a testament to his raw ability.
Furthermore, Blackmore is well-positioned to assess the club’s youth talent after working with players such as Mason Greenwood and he thinks Shoretire could be set to ‘play a part’ in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team plans next term despite his young age.
“I think at the minute there’s only Shola Shoretire who could play a part,” Blackmore told the MEN exclusively, via BonusFinder.
“He’s been in around the first team already and played, so when you’re looking at players now he’d be the one to look out for.
“With the lads coming through I think you know early on watching them how far they’ll go, certainly the players there when I was a coach we predicted where they would end up.”

Blackmore also went to explain that he’d like Daniel James to stay at United this summer.
“I’d like him to stay at the club because I think he’s great, for thing we have as a club in the past that there’s always been a Welshman when we’ve won something,” he added.
“When I first saw him play, I didn’t realise how fast he was and that is so hard to stop as a defender. Him and Foden are two of the quickest players I’ve seen, but with James there’s a lot of games and I think he’s a useful squad player.”
